At their Summit in New York, the United Nations adopted the “2030 Agenda for sustainable development” on 25 September 2015. The aim is to make it possible for everyone on Earth to live peacefully and with dignity. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) stand for sustainable development in economic, ecological and social terms. All countries in the global community are challenged to improve the human and environmental situation in essential areas by the year 2030.
The spectrum of goals ranges from “end poverty in all its forms everywhere” through “promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all” to “strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development”.
Lanxess is supporting the Goals of the UN through:
For Lanxess, education is the future. The chemical group is not only investing in the training and continuous education of its own staff, but is also systematically attempting to interest school students in the natural sciences.
Water for All
Another goal is to ensure the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all. LANXESS’s Lewatit® and Lewabrane® help desalinate water and remove undesirable substances.
Taking Social Responsibility
The UN promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels. Lanxess is aware of its responsibility to society and helps refugees at its sites in Germany as well as donating 400,000 euros for this purpose.
